'notchy' clutch after slave cyclinder rebuild.

Hey all,

Just rebuilt the clutch slave cyclinder in my GQ, and the clutch pedel seems to be nothcy afterwards....Well thats not strictly true, I rebuilt it and then went for a 'play' directy afterwards. Nothing huge, and 1 water crossing (Over tyres). And this morning the clutch was weird.

Also when I bought the rebuild kit, there were two types for the 4.2 Diesel / Petrol. I got the first one, but the seal for the slave cyclinder's 'piston' seemed to be small on the inside of the seal.

Does anyone know if the there were any differences in slave cyclinders between 88 - 91 and 91+ for the 4.2 ?

Has anyone else had this anoying clutch problem ?

Let me know if I havent explained things right, and ill try a bit harder :)

my clutch was 'notchy' after a new clutch. Took it back and they advised the linkages were dry, so they greased everything up, and its all good now.

Water vapour often gets onto the splines the plates run on.
Check the rubber drain plug under bellhousing to ensure its dry inside.
Spray a liberall amount of lanolins spray etc and work clutch on splines thru lever boot hole

So I spray that stuff inside the bell housing ?... Any then just pump the clutch while spraying on the spline ?

Has anyone here rebuilt a clutch slave cylinder?

Is the internal spring still able to push the piston outwards after replacing the seal ?

I think you can only buy the clutch slave cylinder as a complete part. I THINK its about $90 i think...

Hrmm...I went and bought the rebuild kit for about $11, just had the rubber bits in it, the seal for the piston, the rubber boot, and a cap for the bleeeder.

Ok,

I asked Local dealer about new seals but not available apparently so had to get a new one. Damn--threw the old one out :(

Yes thats what it is designed for.
