Sierra with Vitara 1.6 Excessive oil blow-by in air filter

Post by moezuki »

Hello,

I'm a new Sierra (coily 1996) owner and probably jumped too soon but the car was in great condition body wise and had a 1.6 carby vitara motor already in with 3000 or so on the clock (too good to be true??). I've been driving it for a week and then noticed some major oil on the ground under the air intake. The engine looks like its pushing lots of oil out of the top into the air filter area. In the filter area its milky but out of the engine it looks clean. Any ideas? I think its still got the 1.3 carby on it. It doesn't overheat and there aren't bubbles in the rad on start up? I was told it has a bigger oil pump than usual?? again have to get real details from the mechanic who put in the engine.

Thanks

check your crank crase breather (pcv valve) and ditch the sierra carb for a vit version.
