glow plug light

hey my glow plug light in my 4.2 GQ keeps flashing on/off and sometime stays on whilst im driving anyone got any ideas???? im stunned dont know too much about diesel motors.....
GQ 4inch spring 2inch bodly lift drop boxs 4.6 diffs 35inch bighorns locked in the front trippin in the rear sliders................ next step duel cab reduction blah blahblah

Have you tried the book in your glove box?

mine did it for a while after i drowned it but it came good after it dried out.

luckily it was very clean water as it was over the dash.

Have a look at the temperature sender in the thermostat housing - the one with two wires in the plug.
Alternatively, could be your glow control module.

my brothers GQ did the same thing after he drowned it. We dried out the control unit but it never recovered. The light and the timer worked fine, but it never operated the glow relay. The control unit was going to cost $650 to me (and I'm a Nissan dealer tech.), not sure what the retail price would be. He's just got a push button switch to work the relay now.
I hope you don't have a faulty control unit.

look down where your feet go, should be a green box (glow plug timer relay)
same thing happened to mine. Get your hands on some contact cleaner and give everything to do with your glow plugs wiring a clean up and dry

You're right except for the 'relay' part. The green box is the control unit (timer) but the relay itself is in the engine bay- under the metal cover next to the main battery.

yea sweet as guys thanks for the advise it seems to have sorted itself out its stopped flashing and is glowing properly again must b a nissan thing lol... cheers
