Compressor location???
Compressor location???
Gidday fellas.
2.8 turbo diesel here.
I plan to run dual batteries some time later down the track.
I have a vacuum cannister sittin at the passenger side near the firewall. Was thinking of puttin the compressor there. One problem. - the turbo often gets quite hot and can it boil up the compressor??
Right now im on a slow path of moddin the car to include airlockers at some stage (havent got em yet - but plan to )
And im not keen on havin it inside the cab. Prefer it in the engine bay.
What happens when they get wet?? - thou i dont plan using it thru the water of course.
Sorry for those questions about the compressor , just that the 5 page printed fact sheet didnt give much info.
Any ideas on location???
Tom

Re: Compressor location???
search the archives.. Under the passengers or Drivers seat is the go.

I like that idea. That'd mean I'd have to use longer wiring to wire everything up to the rear of the car.
The air hose i have that came with the kit is six metres long - should be good enough to reach the front and rear wheels from that location.
Can anyone tell me that there wont be any voltage drop or problems if i mount the compressor in the cavity where the jack goes ??
Thanks fellas
Tom

Still recommend under the seat.

I agree its a good idea under the seat. What made me think about lockys idea was - dry.
I went into a deep mudhole and under the seats got pretty much soaked - at the moment lookin for the culprit - i suspect an old grommet is leaking
And the current jack will be relocated into my toolbox which is always in the boot.
But im still open to ideas/suggestions, but so far my liking has been lockys idea as its able to be tucked away as it'll be used for my 4x4 tyres as well as my camper and the compressors location in the jack's cavity is pretty much accessible with the air hose to all six tyres (includin the camper)
Ok. In the jack cavity section there is a bracket that holds the jack in palce. I have taken it out and chopped it up to accommodate the compressor. Tight squeeze, but she'll be right there for a while.
Darnit.. i gotta get a digi camera to take pics of my work. (shoudlnt have sold my old one)
All thats left to do is to wire it up. Once done ill see if i can get some piccies. Only problem i have is that the air hose outlet sticks out a tad bit too far for me to put the cover back on.
Workin out an alternitve on what to do about that.
