sliders in the sills?

have seen a few builds in the states, where they cut out the sills and weld in the sliders as part of the body.

has anyone done this or know of one done, and has it worked out ok?

it seems like a fair idea, but im not sure about the strength.

think sloshys is done this way, i think itd be plenty strong, with the advantage of not having to loose the extra clearance.

have a look in the nissan section - there was a thread with pics in the past week.

looks the goods - no lost clearance, increased body rigidity, easy way to remove rust

the only thing I dont like about the idea is you end up with a butt joint where the cut sill meets the RHS.

We cut the sill out and replace with anew one only the oposite way and thicker material then build the slider per usual mounting only putting it where the original sill was.
have grinder will fit

So what you're planning on doing is cutting the sill and fabbing in a new bit of rolled section to clear the slider? Then welding in the slider? Is that called frenched or something?

I did it to my 60 cause the sills were stuffed and got it fully engineered in nsw :D
