I'm interested in 75 series springs into the back of a BJ73, but rather than do the normal thing of posting the question and letting the thread fade into the annals of history, I figured I might as well make something useful of it.
Searching reveals a few good threads about different 70mm cruiser leaf spring dimensions but no one thread really ties it together.
From here we get measurements for FJ40 and FJ60 stock springs, and also what I think makes a reasonable set of measurements.
Conventions used:
CH : Camber Height
E2Est: Eye to Eye (straight edge)
E2E: Eye to Eye
F2C: Fixed to Center Pin
S2C: Shackle to Center Pin
40# Springs still on vehicle
60# springs unladen
All measurements were approximate
60# springs still have load leaf
Measurements:
40# Front CH: 140mm
40# Rear CH: 140mm
60# Front CH: 200mm (about 20mm diff between R/L sides)
60# Rear CH: 180mm (about 20mm diff between R/L sides)
40# Front E2Est: 1080mm
40# Front E2E: 1100mm
60# Front E2Est: 1020mm
60# Front E2E: 1100mm
From here we get some discussion of front 75 springs versus stock front 60 springs.
Front 75 series springs are ~40mm longer than equivalent 60 springs. Making them easier to twist due to the length increase. The ones your mate has are probably 75 series springs, 75 springs also have more camber than a 60 too. Combined with a 2'' shackle gives a good shackle angle and good uptravel/droop for minimal $$$.
And here here is some discussion about longer 79 series rear springs and options for 75 series spring swaps.
I have done a little looking into the idea and believe the later model springs are 172mm longer than 75 series items.
This springs could quit possibly fit under a 75 series ute, I had a camber set to 5 1/4 inches above standard with load bearing leaves out and 3 leaves put back in. I put these springs under with extended shackles and they still sagged until the hit on the chassis rail. In the process of doing this the springs were set that high the pritty much everything had to be disconnect from chassis to diff because it had to be jacked up that high before the springs would reach the diff. In saying that these could possibly fit under if more leaves were added to the pack to keep them up, also quit possibly more camber would be needed also! If you are going to use or think about using these in the rear you will probly end up with around a 6 - 7 inch lift if you were to get them done right! (with extended shackles) You could possibly have them lower if you went to BIG shackles. My recommendation is use your existing 75 packs with longer wraps, mains and 3rds. Or have whole new packs made up.
For my lift i am using 60 series rear packs with only 5 leaves and reset to 3inch higher then stardard (should sag down to 2inch) for the front. and 79 rears with wraps and mains cut and rewraped and set to about 4inch higher then standard (should sag down to around 2 1/2 - 3) for the rear.
Im not sure on the exact lengths (cant remember) But the 60 series rears are 50mm longer in the front half of the pack (diff doesn't move forward) And rears are going to be 15mm longer in the rear half (mount end half) and 50mm longer in shackle end half. Move my rear diff back 15mm!
Hope this helps anyone with a 75 who is thinking of spring work! Once i FINALLY get around to putting them back in i will let you all know how it goes!! with pics!!
Still looking for measurements (as per first post) for;
73 series, front and rear
75 series ute, front and rear
75 series troopy, front and rear
79 series (are the utes/troopys still different?), front and rear
and I guess 45, 47, 55 etc too (others?)
Or alternatively feel free to add any other good information for such things.

So this thread suggests that 75 series springs (troopy?) are 8 inches longer although this doesn't quite line up with the chart posted above.

this is tha rear shackle angle with 75'ssprings in a 60
the front hanger needs to be moved forwards 2" to keep the diff in the same spot, ive got measurements somwhere but cant find them atm im pretty sure the rears are 8" or so longer, 2"in the front half and about 6"in the rear half.
Has anyone got known correct measurements for stock 75 troopy (and/or ute) rear leaves?
