Is the pressurised air going all the way to the fitting on the diff?

Could also be the "normal" leaking seal, or possibly a break in the brass line inside the diff too.

Have you found any leaking seals on the front diff recently?

turn on the compressor, flick the locker switch on and check to see if there is air coming out of the breather if so then there is a leak in the diff, most likely either of the above mentioned problems

From your post i'm presuming that the compressor starts and pressurises the resevoir.
From there, if the locker switch is activated.....
A. The compressor doesn't cut in and there is no air being supplied to the locker, possible solenoid fault or wiring for the solenoid.
B. The compressor cuts in and out frequently or stays on continuously because there is an air leak some where in the system.

I'm guessing A because you made no mention oif any abnormal compressor operation. Check the power supply and the earth for the solenoid that is mounted on the compressor reservoir.

If it was the new part number one which it should be if its only 7 months old. you have probably have the engagement gear strip! Can't remember exact name but I have had 1 fail and i know of atleast a couple more that have done the same thing.
Everything appears to work when it happens. you can generally hear it seem to engage but there is no locking.
Talk to your local ARB and it should be repaired

Try swapping the airlines over on the solenoids to prove them out.
