TB42E Throttle Body possible upgrades

Post by wilsy »

Has anyone upgraded the throttle body on their TB42E, as this seems to be the biggest restriction on the intake side of things. Throttle body ID only seems to be about 55mm or so (will measure this and the diameter of the Intake manifold inlet as soon as it's pulled apart.
Hoping for either a direct bolt on but don't mind having to weld a new adapter plate onto the intake manifold if needed. Have read a thread on a 4.8 install using a modified XF body buts thats all i've been able to find...

I have a TB45 engine in my GQ. I am using a XF throttle body. It works really well. I polished the internals and removed any casting marks also.
I made up a new flange plate and had it TIG welded on. Really simple modification.

Thanks Create, any idea what the ID of the XF body is, does the existing nissan throttle cable fit, or was the arm off the nissan body used on the XF throttle body?
On a side note what other mods were done to your TB45? ECU, Cam, Porting, Compression?? and what was the end result?

I think the throttle body is 65mm internal. Fits directly to GQ throttle cable dont know about GU.
