80s locking hubs on 60s?

Post by CanberraMav »

Hey guys,

I want to use the 80 series hub instead of the selectable hub on my 60 series as they are supposed to be alot stronger? also dont need to worry again about people unlocking my hubs on me.

I cant see how to get the circlip onto the cv when using these? What have people done. I dont like the idea of the Cv moving around if its not fitted.

Thanks

there is 2 different types of drive flanges, i think you need the early ones (shorter)
1hd-fte 5 speed tiptronic 105 series
78 series troopy for work

I believe Canberra Mav has tried the shorter flanges but the end of the CV is flush with the outside edge of the flange. (needs to be at least another 10mm further out to fit the circlip) :?: :?:

I think you will find Dan A1 is running Longfeild drive flanges from the u.s on 60 series hubs.

Then he has tried the longer ones. The shorter ones will fit.

The other thing you can do is just use an M8 bolt and a large washer to hold the axle. The warn hubs used this instead of the circlip.

If this is doing any road driving i wouldnt recomend it.

I actually had both types and neither fit? The hubs are with ROB ZUK so ill get him to have another plat around with them.

Are these much stronger than the 60 series hubs?

This car wont be going on the road.
