12HT fuel economy..........

Post by flyology »

was browsing ebay today and found this add for a 12HT........

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... TQ:AU:1123

person selling states it gets approx 1000klms per 85 - 90litre tank.......

I just find that a bit hard to believe, works out to just over 11klms per litre or 9 litres per 100klms......

There is a guy on the A4WDA forum (who's name escapes me) that also claims 900-1000klm's per standard tank, which I too thought was a bit extreme.

I can only manage 600km per tank on the highway, with an auto.

In my old 2h i would get on average 11.5l/100k. It would go close to 10.5 on a long highway trip. That is stock height on 31's. Mind you the speedo is on the optomistic side when running 31's.

a 12ht driven untill it is nearly empty, and at a leasurly 'mother' pace i would think 900 to 1000k is quite achievable.

Probably should have mentioned that its an auto also, so fuel economy would drop as the A440 boxes drain a lot of power just to run them. I really cant see 100klms out of a tank happening. I drive mine reasonably conservative back and forward to work (70% 80klm zone, 10% 100kph and 20% 70 and 60kph. I get around 8klms a litre with a speedo that is nearly spot on, if anything 100kph is about 102 (checked with GPS) I have 285x75x16 BFG's 3" exhaust and engine is near brand new with about 10K on the clock since full rebuild.

As for using the full tank, I know many people that say you cant get the full 85 litres as you end up getting air bubbles in the line, (I have experienced it myself) and I am pretty sure once a "mother" had run out if diesel she would not be happy to have to sit on the side of the road waiting for someone to come and bleed the fuel system for her.........

I think the speedo is very very out.......

It's possible it was running 29's, or some super slick road going tyres.
