weird noise

Post by tye1986 »

hey every one i have a 98 gq coil cab 4" lift 697mm rear lower control arms td 42 turbo air lockers 4.6 diff gears im getting a i high pitched noise between 60 an 70. with the tail shaft around the normal way slip yoking point forwards it makes the noise under load with if switched around facing back it makes it while coasting. and also it is really i mean really hard to get my tail shaft off i have to hit a coal chisel between the 2 flanges to get it off sometimes even 5 min of solid hitting which isnt good for the shaft. now i have driven with just the front shaft in and theres no noise i have had the diff out twice adjusting stuff and the gears are not worn. is there a out put shaft bearing on the gear box maybe. the car only has 190,000km any ideas would be great.

cheers Tye

May need some grease in the unis mate. Best to get new ones if that's what it turns out to be.

That's a tough one then. Hate that.

Might sound strange but the steel seal protector on the diff isn't scraping the diff carrier is it? Or even the handbrake backing plate scraping the drum? Maybe even a rock stuck in the handbrake assy?
