diesel vac pump alternators

Post by mikesmith »

hey guys

i am looking to setup a 24v system on my truck to run the winch. my question is i have a fairly worked chev in there and need a vac pump. would the vac pump on the back of a diesel alternator be enough to keep enough vacuum up for brakes and that??

i have never owned a diesel or had the alternator apart just wondering how much vacuum they actually make.

any help appreciated

it will create more than enough vacuum considering that they are used for the brakes & clutch on a diesel as diesels dont make vacuum!
An ounce of precaution is better than a ton of cure!

X2 it would be plenty, but if your worried run a vac storage tank also (not big) in line between the booster and vac alternator.

Make sure to incorporate a one way valve in your vac line to ensure you still had vacuum there when you start up you 4by
