Mendioned this on patrol4x4 also, so sorry if repeating myself.
Anyone else discovered the same? (using non chipped key)

in that case the imobiliser is stopping power to the injectors or power to the fuel pump. which wont effect the gas system.

if you had an imobiliser which stopped spark for instance then it would work on both.

Yep, or you could pick up power for your lock-off valves from the fuel pump (or whatever the immobiliser is cutting power to).
