Yes they do. It will relieve pressure at about 14 psi. Maxium boost is produced when you are using maxium power ie flat to the floor going up a hill. If you want to see if it works pull the hose off to the waste gate and go for a short drive. You can fit a boost controller or bleed valve to increase your boost .

Seems like you're describing an internal wastegate. Not an externally vented bov.

They have an over pressure relieve valve in the back of the inlet manifold.

Diesels are an excess-air engine; they don't have a stoichiometric ratio, they don't need a butterfly valve - speed control is regulated by the amount of injected fuel.No butterfly = no rapid decrease in pressure, so how will you activate it? In saying this, Some diesels do have a butterfly valve but I'm fairly certain yours doesn't. You don't need a BoV for anything other than the sound.

The waste gate blow off is plumbed back into the intake manifold by Mitsu.

If you really have to, why not take the blow off hose from the waste gate and put a blow off valve on the end, with the whistle you want.

Apart from the "look at me" value .. why ?
A paj on 33's or 35's will attract plenty of attention anyway .. some of it you may not like ( police type attention)
If you are planning to tow with this car you may want to look at spending some $$ on diff gears to get back into the appropriate rev range for max power.

did you read what i wrote? you wont get flutter because there is no butterfly valve etc. post pics of what pipe you replaced. oh and if you want some thing thats quick off the mark get the V6 petrol

There is no way you can create Turbo Flutter noise in a Diesel.....as the engine uses up all the boost pressure when decelerate rather than restrict it like the petrol's do.....the diesel control it's speed/AFR by regulate amount of fuel injected and not amount of air flow into the cylinder so there would be no butterfly valve inside the intake manifold ;)

If you want to get the sound of BOV,there is a way to do it......the easiest way to do it is to remove the Relieve Valve "the one sit near to the firewall and look like doesn't screw in correctly" and put a BOV there, you may need to custom a flange and gasket to prevent pressure leak.....next up u will need a vacuum soleniod and a switch fitted to the Throttle Pedal/Injection Pump which when the throttle is closed it will operate the switch.....connect a pipe from the vacuum pump to the soleniod and from the soleniod to the BOV.....this should give you the sound but it is made no effect to the performance ;)

Hope this will help ;)

The boost of a Normal 4D56/4M40 is run at 0.8 KG/Cm......i got a mate run up to 1.2 KG/Cm without a problem but he had a boost controller inside the cabin which he set it at 1 Kg/Cm for normal drive and 1.2 Bar when the maximum raw power need to be extracted from the engine.....if you run it constantly at high boost pressure, you risking to blown the head as it is made from alloy and not designed to take that heat ;)

If you really want to get more power by tune up to high boost and more fuel.....i recommend you to have your cooling system flushed and refill with a fresh high perfoemance coolant and if possible get a aftermarket alloy radiator or at least the triple-core radiator ;)

Well, you could also google - there used to be a kit on ebay which would make a "BOV sound" on non-turbocharged vehicles. That could work on a turbo-diesel too.

It was 3 years ago now, but I had my 4D56 fuel pump upgraded to deliver more fuel to the engine, and before the guy started playing with my turbo, it was on 8psi (i'm not sure if that is factory standard or just poor maintenance), and when I drove out, it was on 12psi. Coupled with a 2.5" exhaust, after my Paj had been upgraded and Dynotuned, it was giving me 60kw and 591nm at the wheels!
