HEMA Navigator Countdown

Post by Wozza244 »

 Im excited, my new navigator will be in my hands in 12 days!!

The new 5.5" version which apparently ironed out the bugs from the OP.

Who has a new one? Any faults? Any tricks?

it's 5" not 5.5". I have one, haven't had any trouble so far which is good. but haven't had enough chance to learn how to operate it properly yet, got to stop working, it's bad for my social life.

Im going to eat my words here, i went to the show and got a full half hr demo of the new model, and i concluded that it was a piece of garbage.
Im going with my second option i researched, which is the Garmin Oregon 450t.

The Hema was not toooo bad with maps but they wanted $990 for it which included a reverse camera which i didnt want, the maps only covered gazetted tracks and not all the worn fire trails/4wd tracks i usually travel.

For an extra $250 you can add extra topo maps to it which cover all the fire trails but that turns it into a $1200+ unit and with the features and useability i decided to leave him with it.

Go the mighty Garmin, it will do everything and more the HEMA will except road nav, but i have a garmin road nav anyway.

Just my opinion anyway.

Cheers
Wozza

Also check out the Twonav Adventura - not as cheap as an ebay special, but IMO a better option than the Hema.
They're water/shock resistant, and free maps (both on and off road) are becoming available.

More like $150 (4.3" screen which I think is a better size)

Mine does everything - Oziexplorer + heaps of maps and iGo Nav for the street.
