3lt gu air box into gq

Post by outlawgq »

hi, just after some info on fitting up my gu air box to my gq. I searched the forum & found that you can fit a gu air box to a gq. I read that they fit in existing holes & line up. My air box fits the existing holes but the inlet tube sits approx 1" to 1 & 1/2"s away from the inlet hole in the inner gaurd. what have you guys done those of you that have done this same conversion to get it to sit tight against the inner gaurd inlet hole. i,e elongate the holes, redrill new holes or use some sort of pipe that fits in side the aifilter inlet & reduced to fit in the inner gaurd inlet. Some pics would be great aswell where possiable thanks.

I've ran a silicone join, 4" to 3" stepdown, then 3" to 2.5" 90 degree stepdown bend.

I have an older fibreglass Safari snorkel, it doesn't mate up to the inner guard hole though, it has a 2.5" pipe where my silicone bend hooks up to it. Can you chop and join the part of your old airbox so that it meets the inner guard?
