Pro Comp Tyres...how good are they?
Hi there I am looking at lifting my 97 GQ LWB 5 inches and have looked at the range of Pro Comp tyres. they look good and I have been told by a couple of stockists how good they are but I would like to know if anyone out there has used them or heard how they go.
Any advise would be Great

From personal experience, the Xterrain isnt bad, very little lateral grip, tends to spin on the rim at lowered pressures, and like to get mud in the beads.
Fairly thin sidewall.
good straight line grip, need to drive them.

I have run pro comp mud terrains for 3 years now. (35x12.5x15)
I like them. They have worn pretty good (50-60K kms) despite me not rotating them very well. grip well in mud etc, fairly quite on road (quieter than mtz's and bfg mud terrains in my opinion)
Only probs have been 1xpunctured sidewall, but I'm pretty confident that would have been the case on any comparable radial tyre.
One tyre has also gone out of a round a little, so has a stack of weight on to try and balance it (500gms) and is still not quite right. I'm just putting up with it till i get new tyres as I'm due soon anyway.
FWIW
Would be happy to get them again if the price was right.
Cheers,
Dan

Have had 2 sets of 35" muds, and got excellent mileage and off road use very good, like all muds they make a bit of road noise. Went to Extreme All Terrain's and drove a hill without lockers in my GU a mate couldn't with simexes and lockers, I had a lot more HP though. My neighbour fitted them at my recomendation to do cental Aus touring and they performed without fault and the vehicle that accompanied him needed to replace 2 of the new Coopers due to side wall punctures.
Have had nothing but good experiences myself.
