Just Reminiscing Part 2 - "The Waterfall"
Ah ha - finally found them
Sorry AJ, they are not of the first time Mark H conquered it - I didn't think any of us thought he'd go up that track so he caught us all by surprise & with no camera ready
These are from a 2nd trip we did with Marks 4wd Club - this time though Mark didn't get a go at the actual "waterfall" - he busted a CV on the first rock step & then parked his Feroza on the large rock just before the Waterfall with 3wd only -
The Zuk in the group did make it to the Falls - here is the result.....

Last ones from this lot - more of Mark. And to think he returned his Feroza to stock & sold it as "One lady owner, never been offroad" !!
We all now know better
Hope I haven't worn out my welcome with all the pics.....
Later - Mike H.

ohhhhhh... please... I'll be ya friend...
The only thing I ever broke offroad in the feroza was a front uni. If your gentle enough, you shouldn't break too much. Get it lifted a little, get teh rear end movin right, and get some good off-road tyres, and you'll be sweet.

OK, this is gonna test the memory
I'm pretty sure this was his setup - ( note: my memory is bad these days so please feel free to add corrections anyone )
Suspension: TJM Rear Leaf Springs, 2" Extended Shackles, LONG TJM or ARB Shocks ( not standard TJM Feroza kit ones - think they were off an 80 Series Cruiser ) Stock Front Torsion Bars, No Front Sway Bar, TJM Feroza Kit shocks, shaved Bumpstops.
Body: 2" Body Lift, Modified Bullbar, Custom Rear Fuel Tank Skid Plate, Custom Front Diff Skid, Custom Tx Case Skid, Lots of custom rock rash
Wheels / Tyres: 15x8" Steelies with Hankook Dynamic MT's in 31x10.5 R15
Diffs: Front Lincoln Locker / Rear LSD - Standard Ratios
Engine & Drivetrain - Extractors & Sports Exhaust / Modded Air Box for better fording depth, Ceramic Clutch, other engine mods ??
All up - a great setup that Mark pushed to the limit on nearly every outing
The Front Diff held up remarkably well I believe - it might have been only 1 R&P he went thru ( if that ). Front CV's & Axles were a different story & the main reason he moved away from the Feroza I believe - but then he did expect a lot from them. Fully Locked Diff - Big Wheels & Mud Tyres, Ceramic Clutch ( either in or out - nothing in between ) & lotsa revs on 4 foot rock steps will push the endurance of any CV / Axle
For "normal" use they should be fine.
In stock form - for what you'll do to it - the Stock Narrow Track drivetrain will be perfectly adequate Now get out & enjoy it

Ha ha! Gotta say I laughed at the pic of the Zook on it's side
You'll be surprised just how much it takes to tip a Feroza...
Here's a pic of young Shane with Mark's rear suspension...
Shane:"Aaagh sh!t!"
AJ :"Hang on mate, keep her there for a tick while I get a photo"
Shane (with quivering voice):"..eerrr, ok, but hurry!"
The hill is prolly about a 25-30deg angle, plus the rut...and there's an even steeper bit just behind that we just climbed.
You'll notice the lack of up travel coz the springs were pretty heavy duty, but they certainly worked!.

waterfall tragedy
Hi there,
Mike your memory serverd you correctly, I actually broke 3 cv's that day and still had a ball.
All up I lost count on how many cv's I broke, 1 ring and pinion rear diff after getting air borne, and the worst day out was when I did porters road. I totally destroyed a front diff goig through the rock garden and then a rear axle trying to climb the final steps in rear wheel drive. I had to be trailered home the next day.
Those were the days where I couldn't care less about my little truck or the money I was blowing on cv's. Now I've settled down a lot due to owning a V8 100 series. Can't lift wheels in it for fun!
Cheers Mark
