hey everyone
just wondering if i can take out the locker(the actual lokka unit) from the front of my solid axle hilux and put it into the rear diff??
thanks
and just to clear some things up about hilux diffs exchange
-hilux surf rear diff can be fitted to a front solid axle hilux but must have same gear ratio. diff gear cannot be swap due to size of crown and pinion
thats all i know, if u guys know more please post up
eg: can a hilux front diff be fitted to the rear hilux?

yes you can pull it out the front and put it in the rear.
Basically there are 2 types of the diffs that will fit...
1- a V6 centre (larger carrier bearings and stronger housing) this includes hilux/ surf and prado rear centre (solid axle) these will fit front rear of any solid axle hilux up to (old style) 2004.
2- 4 cylinder centres. will fit all solid axle hiluxs as above...front rear...
does not matter about lockers, can go front/ rear as long as its solid axle..
A IFS diff is different, but the rears out of a IFS truck eg- surf, lux, older prado fit the lux.
And yes you are right about the diff ratio. They have to match, different motors have different ratio's.
Just buy new gears if you needed new ones, other wise just buy the centre with the right ratio.
Hope that helps.
