Re-enforcing Spring towers ?

Post by Black Bull »

I know some guys in Patrols have issues with the chassis breaking around the rear spring towers.
Just curious if anybody has had this happen on a coil rear cruiser. going to start on the rear of mine tonight and am wondering if I should beef up the spring towers while I'm at it.

Only ask because in the last 1000 or so km it's started to deform the retainers on the shocks.

To date we have not seen toyota's need bracing, it is very common for shock washers to bend backwards once "bottomed out" what ever vehicle they are on.
Just check your bump stops on yours that may be all it is.

Cheers, I hadn't heard of any breaking, just wanted some feedback.

Knowing my luck, I'll be the first, might tickle them anyway as I want to re-do the top shock mounts
