Hilux h/d clutch problem

G'day all, asking for friend so information is a little vague.

He has installed a h/d clutch into his 2.8 hilux. The brand of the clutch is unknown. The problem is that the clutch will not completely disengage. When the pedal is depressed it appears that the throw out fork is not moving enough to disengage the clutch.

The clutch he assures me that it has been installed correctly and he has fitted new pressure plate, master cylinder, slave cylinder and throw out bearing. The pedal has been adjusted correctly and there appears to be no air in the hydraulic system, (master cylinder bleed first, than slave cylinder, and also pressure bleed).

Question, when fitting a H/D clutch kit, does the master and slave cylinder need to be upgraded? I personally don't think so.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

is there any adjustment at the clutch fork. some cars have an adjuster on the rod between the slave cylinder and the fork

the thrust bearing was installed properly and is the correct one

adjust the free play at the master cylinder under the dash, being a heavier pressure plate, its going to want more travel to disengage the clutch..

There is no adjustment at the slave cylinder including the rod.

I have adjusted the free play at the master ensuring the master returns all the way first then adjusting the freeplay.

As per the first question, no the slave cylinder and master cylinder does not have to be changed.

Presuming the whole lot is installed correctly then the adjustment is done at the back of the pedal... there is also a stop bolt that can be adjusted.

If he has changed the 2 cylinders, are they the same as what was origionally in there... auto shops some times get these wrong...(could be different strokes in the cylinders.

I have done 3 clutches in my lux over the years and have only adjusted the pedal.

Had a similer prob like this with my 80 recently after checking it all over found it to be the rod that conects the pedal to the master cyl had some sort of plastic Dampener?? you could call it now the steel case for this was spliting on one side allowing the straight rod to bend in the middle where this joint was so it wasn't pushing the master cyl enough to get the clutch to disengage. i can try get a pic if your not following me. My fix was to cut the plastic and tin part out and replace with a bit of pipe of same dia and lenght adjusted it up and it's the best it's been since i owened the car
