FJ40 alternate steering wheels

Post by micka1 »

Got a 1978 FJ40 with the original massive steering wheel on it .
Now that we've finished all our steering modifications we want to change out the wheel for something smaller, but would like to hopefully stay with a toyota steering wheel .
Just interested in what other toyota wheels would fit easily ? maybe something like RAV4 or something nice and small .

thanks

From what I've seen pretty much all toyota steering wheels run the same spline so it just comes back to clearance for high beam dip on the stalk and getting the indicator self cancelling to work. I had both 75 and 80 series wheels on my original 40 column at one time or another before going aftermarket with boss kit. Best bet would be to go down to a wrecker and try a few on.

Ray smashed it.

You can add your own wiper cancellation etc. Just make sure it is ADR10 approved. I reckon cruise the wreckin yards and grab something retro cool. Or maybe something small and modern, depending on what floats your boat.

Thanks for the response guys , thought that any cruiser etc might fit .

Car is a straight comp truck so not worried about adr's and can't really run down to the wreckers in it . just wanted to know if it would work

cheers
