MK/MQ Diff Facts? (Rear Full Floater??)
MK/MQ Diff Facts? (Rear Full Floater??)
Just spent about an hour searching and reading about MK/MQ Diffs.
I would like to know if there was a rear full floating diff?
As far as I could figure out from the threads I found there may have been some after 1985??
Sound correct?
Also
what is the smallest ones wms to wms?
they are 1380mm wms to wms?
front disk/rear drum
both have offset diff pumkins
raitos are 4.3, lots of 4.6, and a few 4.8's??
Any info would be great.

No patrols in any series of any kind had full floating diffs in H233B.
The H260 may have been a full floater at some stage but im unsure of this as have never owned a car with one it it.
I tried a patrol diff housing in my trailer years ago and ended up running a 60 series cruiser housing as they are full floating and i could piss off the centre and axles.....

most petrol and non turbo diesels are 4.6 diff ratio.
4.3s came out in the factory turbo diesel.
4.8 were only in the H260 rear and mostly only utes.
all mq / mk have offset diff pumpkins drivers side due to transfer case output.
GQ have rear centre diff, drivers side front diff.

The H233 was made in a full floater. It is shown in the MQ/MK parts book. I also have pictures of a few Patrols with the full floater.
It is extremely rare though and I don't think you got any in Australia.
If i was putting a rear full floater in my MQ/MK i would throw a pair of 60 series cruiser diffs under her, the front is stronger the MQ and the rear is full floater, they both have the correct centre position and can get longfields etc off the shelf for them.

mq - gq diff centres
just wondering if mq/mk diff centres fit into gq coil diffs

MQ rear diffs however, are not useable in GQ rear.
MQ diffs are however useable in GQ front diffs as a straight bolt in.
The only problem you have is you have to run a low pinion instead of the factory GQ high pinion ( mq rear in low pinion ).
The problem with that is the tie rod is behind the diff on GQs not in front and you will have to use MQ front kuckles and tie rod and move it all to the front to complete this conversion.
