Hey i have a 85 swb patrol with a old 327 in it, running straight gas do i need to have the carbon(charchol) canister.

No, carbon canister is purely part of the petrol emission gear.
Straight gas , not needed.

My GQCHEV is fully engineered straight gas, no carbon canister fitted any more!
