can some1 shed some light whether the auto trans between the petrol and diesel units are interchangeable?besides the obvious!
got one not sure whether its worth keeping,in the event i need one!

what model is it? should be a plate on the drivers side saying what it is... but i suspect it should be fine...

The diesels (2LT-E & 1KZTE) run an A343F and think the petrols are A343H.
Don't know exactly what the differences are within the case tho, maybe just the torque converter ?.

If you are comparing a Surf diesel auto with a 4Runner petrol auto as per your post title then the answer is no they are not interchangeable.

The auto sections are basically the same but the transfer sections are entirely different, the Surf being a manual type transfer and the 4Runner being a hydraulic operated transfer, which is ecu operated.
