My triton has some sort of pressure release valve on the intake manifold. It looks like there's a proper fitting on the manifold, but the bit thats screwed in looks like a backyard sort of job. What is suppose to be there? As I'm sure wat is there now isn't factory.
Also I've heard the 4d56's can run all day with no drama's with 13 psi (maybe a bit more), but this pressure valve in the manifold lets go at 10psi so can't achieve anymore then that.
What do other people have in their manifolds where mine has this backyard style pressure release valve?

Surely wat's been put there isn't factory tho, so I assume watever is suppose to be there would let it go passed 10psi. When I got it, there was wire around it trying to hold it shut (a farmer use to own it) but that didn't work lol.

that has been butchered hasn't it!! It is a overboost pressure relief valve that i believe is supposed to open at about 15psi. factory boost is about 12 psi. this can be adjusted by shortening the wastegate rod.
What you can do if you want is to buy a blanking plug to screw in there.

Thx mate, might just do that. It's roughly at around 9psi when it goes off. To test it we clamped the line which goes from the turbo to the wastegate actuator. That's also the same line that we plumbed the boost gauge into (clamped it after the t-piece for the boost gauge).
I prolly shouldn't even play with it coz it doesn't really need any extra power.....but I just gotta tinker with things lol.

I took the line clamps off the actuator hose and for some reason it's still hitting 9 pound and opening the valve. It never use to open the valve, I assume it never got to 9 pound, but now it is.
When we first tried it out, and had the gauge hooked up temporarily it hit about 13 pound b4 the valve opened, maybe the valve is dying? My bro looked up a replacement valve at his work and they're about $300 ish lol....so yeah think I might block it up....or put another fitting in it, and run the boost gauge from it (instead of the line going to the actuator).
