Well,
Installing the rear locker tonight and everything worked a treat until.........
We went to put the left hand side axel in and the p00fter is 15mm too long. It seems that the factory rear 3.5 lockers run a slightly shorter axel. The right hand side is fine and fits like a glove.
Oh well.... Its all a learning kerb

easy fix grant, shorten it. when i broke my left rear axle i couldn't find a number 82 anywhere to replace it, so i got an 81 which is out of an open diff and had it shortened by cutting of 20mm of the spline and it fitted spot on. its also a bit stronger than a no. 82 cause the shaft is thicker up to the spline. hopefully you can do somthing like this on yours. it worked on mine cause the spline is aout twice as long as what actually makes contact with the diff centre. hope that makes sense.

Yeah that is what i did. There is only about 40mm of spline so are you saying that you knocked off 20mm of that and now only run a 20mm spline? How long you been runnning that?

Upon further inspection there is not enought meat on the spline for it to be 100%. I only had about 10mm excess but had to remove 15mm. Car is mobile but will await the correct axel.

Yes thats how mine was. This might be a differance between the 3.0 and 3.5 though. I have had it like that since i broke it which was around sep oct 2000 so almost 4 years now.
