i got a 91 falcon off one of my mates for free, and seeing as i got no use for im going to mudrace it, its in ok nic although ive had a few issues with the 3.9 efi and i was thinking of converting it back to carby just for simplicty. anyone every done anything like this or can point me in the right direction?

yo dude if you carbi it wont mud/water and shit get in the carbie and stop engine?

They never had a carby, originally, so you'd have to adapt something, and change the fuel pump or the reg.


I'd keep the EFI, for sure, 120%

I've seen one with a 500cfm holley on the side of one, was in a speedway bomber. Apparently pretty easy to do, but I don't know exactly what the set up was, but it was done.

Would need to buy/make an adaptor, and change the fuel pump/reg. Maybe have to play with the dissy too.

Do the old 250 crossflows have the same gearbox? You could just bolt one of them in if it is, You can get them for free quite often. I reckon it'd be a fair bit of work for a car your trying to kill to try and convert it to carb. Run it till it dies!

the 4.1's used same gearbox as did the 351 clevos. Mate i had a 3.9 ea and 2.5 years, 2 oil changes and a hell of a thrashing later motor was still not blowing smoke get it rebuilt / fixed or go bigger its a great engine
