NEED HELP WITH CV
NEED HELP WITH CV
hey guys i broke my long side cv in my 1989 GQ lwb 4.2 diesel. i picked up a second hand cv & axel that they said was for a GQ but i just put my old one and the new one side by side and there is 100 mm difference between the two. i think maybe the shorter one for a MQ? my old cv & axel measured 1100 axel alone it was 915 the markings on the cv are NTN 100 AC EM5 1 the replacement cv& axel measured 1000 and is marked with NTN 100 AC DP 5. Any thoughts? could remove the cv from the smaller one and tap it the longer one with out breaking it, would fit and work the same? thanks stu
Nissan patrol GQ 1989 - 33" inch pro comp mud terrains + 3" lift + double lockers + duel batteries.
There should be a sacrificial circlip on the end of the axle. I haven't done it on a patrol before, only on a cruiser. But provided the dimensions of the CVs are the same, you should only have to buy the circlip, tap it onto your GQ axle and slip on the new CV. Getting the new CV off the MQ axle can be quite hard as the circlip virtually has to break to get it apart. Slip the axle into a piece of water pipe and bang it on the ground, worked for me.
Don't take life too seriously...it isn't permanent.
