swapping 4.2l motor from gu to gu cost

Post by booykj »

gday,

Just wondering what you guys rekon it would cost to swap a TD4.2 from one patrol to another.

situation is that i have a gu coilcab ute and gu ute with the leaf rear. Both have the non turbo 4.2l diesels. The coil cab has 300 odd thousand kays on it and the leaf rear gu has 120 odd thousand kms.

as i want to build the coil cab up a bit i wanna swap the engine and transmission(maybe) from the leaf rear gu ute to the coil cab ute.

As im not a mechanic just wondering what you think it would cost me to get them swapped over.

once thats done i will be swapping all my bits from my gu ute(the leaf rear gu) over to the coil cab.

cheers kyle

Between $500 and $1000. Add in extra cost of new clutch as it is all apart anyway.

were you planning on turboing it? If so you might be better with the older engine, get some comp tests done and then decide.

cheers
