Best H/D clutch for towing and off road.........

Post by flyology »

I am up for a new clutch soon, just after some feedback on what people are using and what works well, what doesn't and what is value for money.

I have an 8/87 HJ61 (12HT) but interested in how major brands work in all Toyotas..........

I havent got up to buying a clutch for mine yet, but a mate had a Exedy H/D clutch in his 2.8 D Hilux and loved it, didnt slip at all and was pretty cheap. I havent heard anything about their Safari clutches for 4wd's but would be interested to hear.

Exody for me too.

I run an Exody Sports Tuff behind my V8 and it has copped a hiding for the last 3 years, still works fine.

Cheers

Any more with some info? I wound up the boost and fuel on the 12HT and now the clutch is slipping in 3rd under medium/hard acceleration with no load on......

Comments from 12HT owners would be appreciated......

My mechanic reckons the Exedy Safari Tuff clutch is the best.

Someone on another forum reckons that comp guys are having better results from the 4Terrain clutches, apparently they don't slip where the Safari Tuff was.

Direct Clutch at Albion (Brisbane) will sort you out. They will make ya one suit what ya want it for. Best clutches I've used.
