80 series dash switch

Just woundering what people have used as switches on the top blank switch of the centre dash, where where the dash curve? Its an 92 gxl 80 series.

Best bet pick up some switches from the wreckers. Or put ordinary ones elsewhere it don't curve. The later is what most do

I believe the demister switch can be used if you work out the pins correctly as it is click on/click off. There are ways to relabel it if you search. If you get on ebay US you can pick up a factory fog/spot light switch as well. I got one for $10USD. Not sure what model variants had it but you can't get them here.

I filled all the vacant spots with demister switches for driving, reverse and worklights, paid about $5 each for them at the wreckers, I just used an electronic label maker to label them, there was a thread on another forum on how to relable them for an almost factory look.

Taz are they tricky to wire, from memory they have a few pins and the negative switching always confuses me. Can you share a wiring diagram or description with us.

I kept it simple, just used a multimeter to work out which two contacts were switched, didn't worry about trying to get the LED light in the switch to work, as you said they are negatively switched and it would have required an additional relay, didn't seem worth the hassle, especially as everything i was switching such as driving, reverse and working lights were pretty obvious when they were switched on.


Not sure what sort of current these switches can handle, in all the applications I used them in they were only energizing the coil on a standard driving light style relay so should be well within their capability.
