is por15 grippy?? i want to paint the inside of my ute, and i want to leave the floor bare, i dont want to put the vynal back in, or carpet, water already gets in when it rains, so im to scared to lift the vynal till i get a mig and can replace that section of floor.
i was going to paint it once coat with what ever colour i choose for the out side, but between coats sprinkle sand on the floor.
i have a 75 ute too

I've got some KBS rustseal on the way, from reports, it compares very favourably to Por 15.

does this stuff mean that backyard tank fabrication just became a whole lot easier? i mean, its getting those small imperfections out of the weld seam that fuel leaks through thats the problem right? this stuff basically claims to fix that...
could lead to some dodgy fuel tanks by half-arsed welders...

Re: what to paint car floor with?
The old name for it was colour flek but i'm not sure what it's actually called now. Cam still make it though and it comes in beige or grey from memory. If you went into any automotive paint shop and asked for colour flek they would know what your talking about and have the equivalent on the shelf. It's actually acrylic paint mixed with enamel which gives it that speckly affect. It will hide all sorts of things and will last years.hiluxmad wrote:doing up a sierra and want to put some coating on ithe inside of the floor before i put new carpet in.

not too worried on finish if i can paint over it with enamel.
It's not designed to be painted over though.
Cheers Mick.
I'd reckon dodgy welders would have their way regardless, the tank seal does sound interesting though. KBS also have their own hi temp engine paint on the way too. Aussie made products as well, that has to be a plus.macca81 wrote:looking on that site i found this http://www.kbs-coatings.com.au/Auto-Fue ... 10-15.htmlhj 45 wrote:I've got some KBS rustseal on the way, from reports, it compares very favourably to Por 15.

I've used some K&H Deadener and had a huge problem with the aerosol cans clogging. I reckon I threw out 4 almost full cans and still didn't get the floor of a sierra trayback cab covered.hiluxmad wrote:is it worth just spraying with K&H deadener then paint over? cvheap(ish) and easy?
I did everything right - even warmed the cans, shook for ages- the whole lot. It was great when it worked.... just didn't work often. Maybe it needs to be sprayed with a top-feed gun?
A word on Herculiner. I've used it and it's been good, however, it's not a fast selling product and it has a short shelf life. I've worked with two batches that had settled and no amount of mechanical agitation could free up the particles. The end result was patchy with lots of large chunks etc. We even tried smashing it through strainers etc to break up the rubber chunks and we just wasted heaps of the stuff.
If it's fresh it's awesome though. It's been in the back of my Gwagen for about 10 years and looks great still.

if its a rough textured finish it will be a pain even to clean simply and look poor. a smoother finish will be more cleaner friendly.

Stone guard sprayed through a proper gun. The Guns are pretty cheap.
I do remember some form of recall on K&H deadener or stone guard a while ago after they found out it had some bad stuff in it. Just make sure you're buying current stock.
Well I'm guessing that they didn't think everyone would carry on like a big bunch of sooky girls over it like they have........
I've been meaning to ask what people think of the K&H stuff. Every time I have tried using any it has turned out to be absolute crap. Aerosols come out all frothy instead of spraying well, reactions where there shouldn't be any... Has anyone else noticed this or am I just having a bad run? I NEVER buy their stuff any more. On the other hand for cheap stuff I have had no problems with the Septone stuff you get at supercheap. But K&H, terrrrrrrible.hiluxmad wrote:is it worth just spraying with K&H deadener then paint over? cvheap(ish) and easy?
This is not legal advice.
