Door checker/stay/brake strap lube

Post by Dooley »

Might sound a bit dense but are these supposed to be lubed and what with ?

They're all bone dry... the interwebs has said everything from graphite to lithium grease to oil to nothing...

They seem to be made of plastic. Anyway main thing is that one of them is making an annoying groaning/clunking noise on one of the bumps, tried some blue marine grease on it and that has quitened it a bit but the door itself still feels a bit clunky at that point. Might be an actual issue with it ?

Anyway are they supposed to be greased or anything... ?

I'm going over all the latches and that as the bonnet latch was sticking.

Oh and if anyone has no idea what I'm talking about, the strap thingies that stop the door opening too far.

Nah, should probably update my sig. The Sierras out the front refusing to start... that was the final straw and I needed a daily/trade work car/4wd so I've downgraded to a Courier.

The Sierras door actually has a dent in it from when I had the strap off for a bit and a strong wind caught it and smashed it into the barwork. oops. :?
