gu 4.5 starter problems

Post by TROY_86 »

Hey guys the starter motor in my gu 4.5 patrol has been on its way out for a while now and a few days ago it finally died. wont wind the car over just clicks, i was wondering if the gq tb42 starter is the same?

I have bolted the one off my turbo petrol gq tb42 in as they both looked identical and it all bolted up the same but still no go. It tries to wind it over but just seems like the starter hasnt got the balls. i will throw a new battery in as well as mines been sitting for a week without starting now

Any help appreciated

New battery and clean the connections to and on the starter with a wire brush (if possible), be amazed the difference a good connection can make.
