difference in Diesel and Petrol tanks

okay what is the major difference in petrol and diesel tanks (other then what type of fuel is used).

Can you use an old diesel tank for petrol if it is cleaned out properly??

tank materials/coatings - i can't answer...

Getting a bit of diesel on your fuel or vice versa won't do any harm though...

Depending on the vehicle - none at all e.g. Landrovers - same tank, different fuel pump arrangement
