mickey t mtz or pro comp extreme mud terrain have good life and work well offroad , kumho,s kl 71 is also very underrated and has ace road manners
and gives reasonable road life and is good in the dirt

Long lasting ? bitumen? or dedicated play tyre? I run boggers but not on too much black top ;)

a lot of the zuk drivers rate the bighorns... but if its outright mud you want to drive a silverstone extreme or simex ET is the go.

I recommend the the Maxxis Bighorns. Great on dirt and mud, great on the road wet and dry for a muddy. And I got 2 years out of mine with a welded rear diff. Not sure of the kilometres tho.
Don't take life too seriously...it isn't permanent.

What vehicle?
What size?
What amount of bitumen driving bs offroad?
What budget?
What do you consider long lasting?

I've had great success with Firestone SATs, Super Swampers, BFG, Nankang Mudstars, Yokohama Super Diggers.

Have you read any of the comprehensive tyre topics that have heaps of info about tyres from owners perspectives?

silverstone extreme's are brilliant but i have to wear ear muffs when traveling, even on dirt roads.
they even last surprisingly well on the sharp rock roads that we have in Arnhem land.

x3 for bighorns they just great value for money and dont seem to wear on road much and fantastic offroad

I've just got aprox 80000km out of my BFG km muds and were after a new set. Sadly they don't make them anymore. I would like to get something on par with these or better. But as long as I get 50000km out of a new set i'll be happy. Any sugestions ?

id say coopers or bfg's, but ive also had mtz and big horns r great, but im running simex jt2 great off road loud on road , but shit for open diffs lol

bfg still make kms mate
youll only be able to get km2's new but im sure you can find some good 2nd hand km1's.
both the km1 and 2's are better than the standard km that you previously owned

It's pretty pointless to continue this thread without more specific information from the original post.

I will say though that BFG Mud terrains are a nice, round, high quality tyre, but they are pretty useless offroad in Victoria with over about 20,000km of road use on them- they seem to totally loose their bite.

an in relation to the only other part of the question you asked - why would you want a "long lasting" mud tyre? There's no such thing as a free lunch - long tread life either equals a hard rubber compound or low void, both of which are pointless in mud.

Why not run two sets of tyres rather than try to get one tyre to do two things badly?

I got bighorns at the moment cant fault them except for road noise great for everything, if you dont do too many long drives I would go the bighorns for the price

Im on my second set of KMs. got 80,000 out of the last set and these ones are going good not to much noise grip well in all conditions. I just hope the KM2s are as good.

silverstone mt 117 not to bad on the blacktop and seem ok in the mud they are a little loud when they wear mate has had 3 sets on a 06 nav tows a lot just a tool trailer gets between 40 to 60000 from a set
