Selling trucks interstate

G'day guys

Just after abit of info about selling trucks interstate as alot of people do. I might be selling from queensland into NSW. Do i need to get a roadworthy in my qld and transer rego over in qld as well?? Or do i just sell the truck and the new owner have to deal with roady and rego??

afaik you if you are selling in your state you legally need to supply RWC, the fact he is taking it interstate is irrelevent

from his side RWC and rego mean bugger all, he will need a blue slip and re rego in NSW

I bought a car from interstate into N.S.W. If it is registered then they can just drive it back home and do the rego in NSW. It is not your responsibiltiy to provide a road worthy certificate. BUT. It is your responsibility to inform QLD Transport that the vehicle is sold just as much as the buyer. You just go into QT and inform them that the vehicle has been sold and you'll need the information of the buyer. Its been a couple of years since I lived in QLD so I'm not sure which form you need to fill out. Oh and I didn't need to get a blue slip when I transfered the rego over in NSW. Just a normal Pink slip because the vehicle was currently registered.

the last one I transfered from another state required a blue slip although that may have been the gas, can't remember 100% as it was a few years ago

I bought a car from VIC in November last year. No gas and was registered so only needed pink and green slip.

yeah as far as I know. I bought a car when I lived in QLD and didn't transfer the rego over before I got deployed and QT were trying to get in contact with me because the previous owners had put the rego transfer papers in themselves and I nearly got in the sh$t for not doing myself. Best bet is to give QT a call and get the most up to date info straight from them.

I bought my Mav from Adelaide registered and got the roadie my self here and registration changed over. Just need to supply a receipt of sale, SA plates and the last rego document for the car. I did the same for my 75 ser but it came from NT. Piece of cake. Or you could sell it unregistered and the buyer could just get a permit to drive it from the pick up point home. Just a thought.

nsw to qld you have to hand your plates into the rta and get a transfer rego $30 and drive to the new state with no plates and yes the cops pull you over heaps but thats the rules.

ive just went through this 2 weeks ago

i brought a car with QLD rego

all i got off the owner was a "notice of disposal" and a receipt

then to transfer rego to NSW i had to get a blue slip and basically re-register it

To adertise a qld registered vehicle for sale you must have a Safety Certificate.

That is your only obligation. The purchaser is responsible for getting the registration transfered.

You can use the standard QLD registration transfer form. Fill out the seller sections and the purchaser information. (leave the purchaser side empty etc) Lodge with QLD transport and your done. You arent required to do this, but it means any speeding fines etc will not be sent to you.

I sold my 75 registered but without a roadie or cert, only cos of the mods. Young bloke on the sunny coast bought it, drove it round on the remainder of the rego to get his roadie and swapped over the rego. Too easy.

Although most people (including myself) here have/do run larger tyres than legal, the Maverick is lacking in the tyre department. Although it is just a rebadged patrol, the placard has one tyre on it, a lowly 215/80/16. That's a fricken 29.5" tyre!!! Legally you can't even run 31's on it, no sh1t.

bought a 40 in vic and drove it home on temp rego so no plates, didnt have any issues for the entire drive home then cross into qld and coppers everywhere.. even had a patrol car follow me from ipswich into the city without being pulled over.

if you are driving it anywhere make sure you organise insurance for the period it'll be on the road. as youre the seller, its probably something you wont need to worry about.

i think buying one should be easy enough....selling one however when interstate calls make up a large percentage is a prick.....

Lots of wacker expect you to hold a 30k car for a month for $500 as they are busy at work and a photo of every bolt Dilligaf ! and lucky i didnt as sold truck the following week!

Sorry had to vent it was however sold to interstante guy but he was up here... he said a simply transfer to nsw then he was happy. RWC supplied.
