flywheel and starter help ** FIXED**
im in the middle of doing an engine conversion in my toyota fj40
putting in a windsor 302 66-68 block 6 bolt
the problem is a cant work out what flywheel & starter it should have and how many teeth..or the balance weight ##oz
the bellhousing is a cast blend front half 6 bolt ford.. rear half toyota box pattern molded in..
is there a way i can work out what fits as i need to buy a fly+clutch kit and starter..
before you ask no i cant get in touch with the maker as they are no longer around ...
would there be a way to tell what the front half of the casting is if that would help ??
i can put up pics if it helps

id go with a flywheel to suit the motor and starter motor that suits the motor as well.
clutch your going to have to mix and match
your going to need pressure plate to suit the motor and a friction plate to suit transmission
best to contact one of the companies that sell these conversion kits and see what clutch package they use

the problem is there are 2 flywheels 157 and 164 tooth with there respective starter and clutch to match
re the maker of the conversion there dont exsist anymore !!

If you don't know the pattern the belhousing is suited for 157 tooth or larger 164 tooth ?
Maybe take the belhousing to a ford gearbox specialist and put the different sandwich/block plates against it to see which one lines up correctly which will then point toward the right flywheel.
Balance weight depends on your engine (internally or externally balanced) and which size flywheel/gearbox you choose.
Thought the starters were mostly the same just mounted in a slightly different place to suit the size of the flywheel.
Maybe give Orto a call, he has been round a while ....

the bell housing is 6bolt and so is the sandwich plate they mate up to the motor no problem
but the windsor 302 as i seem to find had to2 diffrent flywheels for it this is the main drama
if i can find out the right fly/w 157-164 tooth all the rest just falls into place as to the right matching parts ie:- starter and clutch
the bellhousing is made by Seaton engineering as you can see in the pic
Oh and the gear box is a h55f as is the rear of the bellhousing

Had a look at some sites and info I have but most is for autos, similar to C6 sandwich plate to 351 (starter is in same place) I have in front of me but not exactly the same shape.
Sorry can't help much.
