use the search function at the top of your screen, the questions you have asked have been answered many times before... Cheap lift = coil spacers and extended shackles, may not be legal in your state though and your better off saving some dollars and getting a full 2-3" lift
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.

2" will fit 30x9.5x15 pretty comfortably. 31's will be tighter and will rub a bit.

On an XJ 30x9.5 will fit in the stock spare location, whereas a 31" will require either modification of the seat mount, or an external tyre carrier.

Thats a very good point the 30 will fit in there fine, pretty much touch both the seat and the rear door. I was wondering could you fit a 31/32 in the stock location and just deflate the sucker.

people have modified where the seat locks in so they can fit larger tyres inside but unfortunately in doing so have made there back seat completely useless and illegal, Unless you can get it engineered i wouldn't bother.
if you want bigger then 30's they you will have to strap it to the floor in the boot or find a way to mount it outside, needless to say but 31's on an xj are illegal anyways. 235's or 30's are as big as you can go without mr plod asking questions as he hands you a yellow sticker
