Post by Daisy »

I'd like to place my new tx3200 in the ashtray slot, after lookin in there and it looks a little largish and Im wondering what other peole have used to place it in there?

If its too much hassle, ill go overhead console.

Any pics if anyones done it so it gives me some ideas.

The mounting frame and brace used for the original radio can be used to secure the UHF below the stereo. I made a face of aluminium and covered it with marine carpet but you don't have to if you couldn't be bothered.

I put my stereo in a home made dash pod and have the UHF and AM mounted one above the other down where the original stereo used to be.

my mate put his in the ash tray, he took the metal ashtray mounting from behind the facia to work, cut it up and spot welded it back to the metal radio mounting. Leaves a bit of a gap around the radio though. Have heard of others being able to drill holes in the right places in the metal ashtray mounting, but that it was an absolute bastard to put the screws/bolts in or something like that.

I mounted mine to the area just above the factory swaybar? release, but i bent up a bit of sheet stainless to get the radio to face me a bit better so i could see the screen properly.

The 3200 is to small to simply mount in a standard DIN mount, needs the optional DIN adaptor http://www.gme.net.au/land/mbd001.html

I replaced the crappy silver stereo thing with a single din cd player. Then used the space below it for the UHF. The AM is mounted behind the center console.
