Hey Guys.
Sounds pretty cool.
Just so I understand, are teams going to do the one track 42 times? and if you get 20 teams does that mean that the hills are going to be driven 840 times in one day?
Sounds like a great style of comp and something that would really take off with the endurance aspect creating a level playing ground for most! I really like the concept! Think it'll be great to see!
Another question, what are the passing oppurtunities? Up a hill if someone breaks and is having to be recovered slowly does everyone have to wait? Alternate lines? Will there be side by side winch racing up hills, almost like drag racing of sorts (if the hill is wide enough and similar enough you could end up with three or more competitiors hanging from cables side by side?)
Is it going to run into the night where competitors/spectators get to see the crazy glow of HID's blazing thru the night? Especially if there is some crazy passing manouvers going on?!
Sounds great!
Should be interesting to see this one!

Hey everyone, At the moment this comp is open to winch trucks with rego.
Hey Digsy, yes the hills and every other part of the track will be driven continuously but don't get to caught up with lap numbers and such just yet. All distances are approximate at the moment. We will be out at the park for a few bigs weekends with dozers etc soon so everyone is welcome to come along and lend a hand or throw in any idea's.
Passing will be up the the teams. The track will have a fair few sections that are multiple cars in width. There are no designated winch hills but the circuit could deteriorate and hills may become a winch. The whole track is just basic offroad driving. There will be no tightly bunted sections that will create bottlenecks but in saying that some sections could only be 1 car in width. We want it to be higher speed event than a winch style round so the track will be open with some nice fast corners. We believe that just making your car last for the whole distance will be enough of a challenge at this stage without having to put in major obstacles like winch hills etc, but who knows we are open to idea's.
The whole track won't be bunted only sections of it, but going off the track in that place can be dangerous because of hidden stumps/logs and rocks so it will be more than advantageous to stick to the track.
The racing will go into the night but only for an hour or two.
This will also be an alcohol free event in the spectator area's for the entire duration.
Hope that clears up a bit.
Cheers Davo

Hey all, I can now confirm that Red Bull have come on board and there promotions team will be on site for the event.
Great to see that we getting so much interest in this event. This promises to be one of the greatest comps in CQ, if not Qld if we get everyone behind this.
We are even getting interest from some of the offroad racing guys. We will have all the details on the web site soon, so keep checking it. Noms should open in the next few weeks, and will fill quickly, so make sure you keep an eye on this thread and the web site.

Crazy, this is aimed at any vehicle that meets WTC specs, which means roll cages, rego etc. Most of offroad guys don't have rego'd vehicles. In saying this, I have had some interest from some of the lads that run offroad in the Polaris buggies. Some of these have part time rego which they can get the required extended third party insurance under. Be good to see these guys put on a show as well.
If anyone has any questions reguarding the event, please get in contact with Davo, Dukesy or myself so that you get the right info. Don't assume that what you are being told by your mates, unless your mates are Davo, Dukesy or me, is gospal.

I agree with you crazy eyes but maybe the organisers have got it covered. I for one would like winch hills included and some slow technical sections as well....maybe i ask for to much but to me thats what an enduro style event should be, a bit of everything.......8 hrs of that would sort the men from the boys.I think a little more info on that aspect of things would please a lot of people. Either way good on the organisers for doing it and Locko and I will be there in the jeep with bells on!
You would have to be near on made to compete on a Polaris! Imagine having the likes of swamp donkees or the boy who do thenflst track racing come outnodnte dust behind you wanting to get OAS at a great rate of knotts!!
And suggestions for today: maybe include a "minefield" in the course layout, which would be 25 to 35 metres long and 10 metres wide, it would create points in the race where 3 cars could be side by side trying to get out the other side first to leave the others in their dust!!
And on The dust matter, maybe some portable water tanks and lay flat should be sourced? That way they can b stationed at points where the dust may become an issue for e.g pit straight, longer hill climbs and high speed bends and turns, that way these areas could b soaked between qualifying and the start of the race, and during the day aswell it wouldn't completely remove the dust issue but would lessen it's effects,
These are just suggestions as I don't know what the brains behind DBd events have thought up, but since I'm at work bludging I thought I would put them forward haha
cheers mosko

Thank you all for the feed back.
Mosko rasied some good points about the dust which we are aready thinking about. We know this could be an issue, so we are looking at a few different ways to combat this.
As for the polaris buggies, we have only had interest so far, no one has committed to us to say they are definately running. As for there safety, the guy's that I know from Mackay are used to runnng against the Class 8 buggies, that would be as fast or faster than most of the winch trucks. These guys are under no misconception of what they are up against as they race this sort of thing, be it not as long, as there choosen sport.
We still have some creases to iron out, but all in all, I think this event will be great fun to run in.
Please keep any constructive comments coming.

I agree with crazy eyes, these things take off as if they were in a sling shot, espeacially the one thats turboed, they were leaving a lot of big trucks in their dust down at Rover.crazy eyes wrote:dont get me wrong it would be scary but i think they would win on a cercuit like this as they will fly threw the scrub faster than most of the cars man they are fast ...the polaris that i drove down at tamworth flew
