Fuel Ecomany

Post by maxtrax »

I currantly own a 4.5L GQ wagon and 4.2 ute and am considering a road car eg; swift, charade etc to travell to work in. But I would allso like a toy to do comps in so am seeking info on Suk's. So I will only need two cars not three (Family/tow, work, and toy)

I would like to find out from Suk owners there fuel comsumpation from a 1.3L Sierra and 1.6L Vitara. Running 31" tyres, as I need a cheap car to run to work (190 klm a day).

Hopefully info would be in L / 100 klm but litres per tank, $ to fill it / Klm to a tank would also help.

gday mate, thats a fair hike to work each day

i have a sierra with 31s,6.5 gears and a 1.6 efi vit motor with extractors and 2" zorst. It uses around 11 to 12 per hundred which is ok,sometimes it gets better than that, but nothing is too exact as my speedos out.It used to have the 1.3 and use around the same.zuk tank is dented and is in high 30 litres, never let it run down far tho

I also own a hilux dual cab,2.8d with extractors,2 1/4" exhaust and snorkel,33s,4.8 diff gears etc.The lux on 33s pulls in the 10s around town and around 11 to 11.5 up the highway on the 32s or 33s.More economical and a better drive, more practical.lux is 45 litres, get in the 400s.GO a LUX imo ;)
sierra truggy,37 sticky treps,propane,6.5s and disconnect,lux diffs with spools,16" fox shox,hydro steer.

yeah my sierra with 5.14's and 31s with 1.6L engine (EFI) gets me around 260km to 30L (you do the maths).

before severe mods - running 2" lift and 215/75r15 i got bang on 10L per 100km. (300km to 30L) if not better.

A Sierra will suck big time if you're going to use it as a daily to travel those kinds of kilometres. I'd go for a Vitara if you had you heart set on a Suzuki.

I'd agree with Turbo Tonka that a Diesel Hilux would be a better choice.

I would have thought that the sierra would be good on fuel, but to only get 12-13 L I'll go a piece of buzz box, and stick with my currant toy.

Thanks to thous how responded, but my 190klm only has 5 klms of 60 klm zone.

they're ok on fuel on factory road tyres. once you put the bigger tyres on or all terrains/mud tyres, thats when it starts suffering a little i reckon...

something light and paper thin, such as the swift/charade would probably be the way to go unfortunately...

If you are willing to spend the $$ on motor EFI gears etc then it will retuen way better figures than a GU 4.5 ever would sub 1o's should be easily achiveable .. My mum managed about 500Ks out of a 40 liter tank on 29 MT's and haveing owned a GU on 33s .. I can say the Zuk would easil run it on may tracks. .. I never got more than high 300s (370 ish) from 40 llitres.

a $1500 vn commodore will be way more comfy that a vit or sierra for those HWY km's.

If you want offroad go sierra 100 %. ive owned both. The sierra is more capable AND tougher.

Only go a vitara if you want to compromise on road comfort and offroad ability. You will get a car that is ok in both fields but not great.
