Geez thats terrible.. How old are the injectors and pump? Sure you haven't got a fuel leak?

how long does it get driven before it gets turned off?
The colder months make it use more fuel as the car takes longer to reach normal operating temperature.
Your injectors could be blocked or pump might need a reco, but that would mean more black smoke?

it usually gets driven within a 10 km radious most days (e.g to work and school.) but i warm it up in the mornings for a good 5 minutes.

but if my injectors were blocked it would run like a dog, it runs great.
pump yeah maybe but the whole cars only done 226,000 , im not blowing heaps of black smoke either ive been watching it and its nothing more then what a deisel normaly does.

hey mate, it takes a car 20minutes to reach normal operating temperature.
Thats why there is a decrease in fuel economy.
I wouldn't worry about it too much as its winter.
Cheers
