Just had my 105 in to get fuel pump done and when I got it back, I've noticed that where there is an 80 amp fuse for the glow plug on the lid diagram, there isn't one in place. There were issues with the glow plug light staying on when the job was done, but I was told it was fixed. Can anyone tell me if there is supposed to be one there... Cheers in advance...
105 series. Tough dog adj's, snorkel, drawers, IBS, MTZ's, bar, winch...

There should be one there unless the system has been screwed with before you owned it, sometimes they stuff up and people put new relays in straight off the ignition circuit.
If your glow plugs are working then im pretty sure someone has modified it.

I noticed the same thing the other day in my 75 series. I wouldn't be worried, mines never been to a mechanic, and I know quiet well I wouldn't of taken it out, and I've never had a problem.

I guess you could just chuck one in otherwise, I doubt it could do anything bad, worst that could really happen is it will blow the fuse out.

I did not know (till I found out) that the glow light is also a general fault light. Glow plug light on after a pump rebuild has been noted from time to time. In many cases it is due to a vac line leak/break somewhere. When my fuel pump was rebuilt and reinstalled, a vac sensor connection was broken off leaving a vac leak. Sensor repaired - glow light off!!! (Only took three months to track down the problem).


To check if your glow light is on due to a vac leak, there is a procedure for using a jumper wire on the diagnostics terminal and reading the resultant code flashed by the glow light. Code 71 (ie seven flashes, a pause, one flash, pause, repeat of pattern) indicates emissions fault which is often related to a vac leak. There's a vac diagram on toyodiy that I followed to track down the fault.

Just a word of warning if you do replace the 80Amp fuse you might want to check your glow plugs first. I replaced the fuse in my 2.8 hilux the other weekend, ended up costing me 4 new glow plugs, a new relay and a new wiring loom because two glow plugs shorted out which melted the wiring loom and burnt out the relay.

On the bright side the fuse was fine! :bad-words:

Basically just be carelful, because replacing the $7 dollar fuse cost me another $520...
