OD off light flashing KZJ95 Prado

Post by nicinnz »

Hi. Earlier today I came down the mountain after skiing, I had the trans in 2nd with the overdrive switched off and was on over run mostly all the way down. when I got to the bottom I put it into drive and switched the O/D back to on then the light started flashing and trans was doing strange things, I turn O/D to of and then back to on a few times and still the same thing. Then I pulled up, switched motor off for 30 secs then started up and drove home all normally. Any one experienced this before? My truck has 89,000 km on clock, trans oil is clean and on the correct level on dip stick

the od light flashing probably means the transmission computer logged an error. There may be a code stored in the memory. Some cars you can retrieve the code by shorting the diagnostics port and working out the code by the flashes.

Think I will get it checked out on Monday, get the codes read and see whats the go from there, before I use it to go up the mountain again.
