Go to your local friendly exhaust shop and get them to bend up a couple of lengths of 3" pipe and Bobs your auntie ! Then go and by 2 rams and some flexy hose to plumb it up.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

The rams are just the head on top of the actual snorkel pipe. It is the thing right at the top of the windscreen which lets air flow right down the throat!!!

So what are you saying DQ, is your RR a little bit limp wristed... doesnt like to get its blouse wet ... ....
does it lift its skirt when i goes in the mud ???? lol.... ok sory .. couldnt resist that on a monday morning... if you put a solid bash plate on te bottom it will help keep the water from gushing up and under and a decent bull bar .. will also help...
keep you speed constant .....
the Snorkel is not just for river crossings, it is to allow cool clean ( dust free, or dust less) air to enter the engine... and in river crossings it is insurance to make sure no water enters ... and mine is a constant 3 inches right through ... no little 55 mm horn to suck air through, and not hot air from the engine bay ...
does make a good difference when you have made other mods to the engine ......

I've had to remove theTGM bar to stop overheating issues (and it was alloy, to much flex).
As far as "blouse" goes...........yep.........the truck and me are both big females (sorry gals) when it comes to water crossings. The most I've ever put the truck thru was when the floor carpet was about 2" under water (water comes in pretty quick). not sure how deep that is.

I think u might wanna check for rust holes in your floor ... i have to replace my floor pans .. really bad rust ...
so what your saying is your engine was ok under water, just your car leaked like a seive, check the holes in the fire wall where the electrics go through, if you are done wiring stuff up .. fill it with a silicon type filler.. around the wires.. will keep some engine bay heat out as well ..
then try the water again .... or you could use a hose and check for leaks ..

It's a 76 2 door so the water comes in from badly fitting doors
That water Xing was done at a crawl (1st low just above idle) Bonnet vents don't allow for a bubble to form under the bonnet. The main problem is water hitting the coil/leads etc. I've been meaning to get the wife tuppaware out to fix most of the problem. The Leyland motors have a bad rep for water (so I've heard).

do u have a boat ... they are good for crossing rivers .. i saw one do it once .. very impressed... even a barge .. or a ferry .. there is one at berowa waters .. i like to watch it .. hmmmm.... forward and back .. all day .. its like a boat that never goes out of sight ... he he
