Bigger tyres on Stock Jimny

Hi All,

I'm looking at a 2010 Jimny, and the factory tyre spec is for 205/70R15.

Does anyone know if I can fit something like a BFGoodrich Allterrain 215/75R15 on the factory rims and without doing any modifications?

definitely... wouldnt go any larger though.

Also - look at the BFG KM2 - they are about the most aggressive tyre you can get in 215/75r15 and are a great pattern.

much appreciated. To be honest the vehicle is going to spend most of its time on the road, the factory tyres just look a bit ridiculously anaemic, and i had a friend with all terrains on his jimny, which looked pretty sweet

Do you think that change in tyre size is likely to have a noticeable effect on speedo accuracy, or performance? From what I can see, that's the smallest BFG AT on their site.

well, 205/70r15 is 26.29".
215/75r15 is 27.69".

your speedo will be 5.32% out...

so:
60km/hr = 63.2
100km/hr = 105.32

its not drastic by any means.

ahh that's quite reasonable then. Is it possible to have the speedo recalibrated to take that into account, or is that a monstrously expensive thing?

As your Jimny uses an electronic speedo, you can use a Jaycar kit to recalibrate it.

However, you'll probably find your speedo currently reads about 5% slow, so with the 215's it will likely be spot on, so there's no real need to recalibrate.

I've just put 215 BFG AT's on my new Jimny.

On fast bumpy roads the tyres rubbed the guards a bit. I've since had it lifted.

Going under the speed check on the Geelong Rd my speedo said 100 and the radar said 98.

From your build thread over on AZ, am I correct in thinking that your wheels put the tyres a bit further out to the side than they would be on the stock rims? I'm hoping that I won't need any lift for the time being, but the roads around me are utterly crap.

I had to lift my jimny 2 inch to stop the rub from my 215/75r15 on a 7 inch rim. now i have no problems at all
