GQ td4.2 what boost to run

Hi guys just trying to get some information together bout what should the most boost you should run in a td42 and be safe with that boost with out really reacking the engine and was wondering because i just pulled my engine down and took the sump of and what looked like a smash up piston liner in the sump just wondering if this was from running to much boost to hot exhust temp any info would be great juz

How much boost are you running. Do you have an intercooler. Do you have a Pyro gauge. Damage could be from a lot of things.

i run 20 psi garrett gt2871 and a water to air lucky to see the exhaust temps hit 500, but like cris was saying that demage could have been form any thing lots of people have high klm td42's running 15+ psi of boost no worries. also depends on turbo size of what boost your going to run.

Hey dont forget some of the later 4.2 GQ dont have oil injectors or strong conrods. after 93 i think most of the NA black top ones.

hey um i had no cooler on it it was pushing up to 18 pound but exust temp was usauly sitting around da 300 mark but never rearly went over 500 and my turbo was a safari turbo with a 3 inch dump pipe and the fuel screw turned up so if u put the new reco long engine that im getting in i should be right to run 15 pound with a water 2 air intercooler what would you guys recomend the exusht temp 2 not get over

AFAIK the max temp without big $$$ mods is 550c.

Td 42 can handle a fair bit of boost. mines running around the 22 to 23psi for the last year and loves it
