hey people, i have a hilux.
it doesnt run very smooth. it like it has a VERY lumpy cam.
i just changed the alternator and has a new battery, so there rulled out. i just recharged the battery today as it was a little low. chucked it back in and it ran normal for 5-8mins before it went back to the rough idle. the only warning lights are the battery, when it idles rough- it takes a few revs to get it going smooth again. but it almost wants to cut out when you try to rev it.
im gona take it to a shop tomorrow, but if it is something simple that someone else has had before. please share with me as i'v allready spent $$$ on the battery and alternator. :(

hey mate check ur plugs and leads. also check for vacume leaks. they seem to kill this motor. happed to myn and couldnt figure it out for a month. i took it up the mechanic and he fixed it in like 30 seconds and didnt charge me. fark i felt like a hopeless fool that day hahaha
myn vacume hose for the charcole canister fell off. so check all ut vacume hoses and if u find a leaky one just use the trusty old cable tie to sort it out haha (Y)

Re: 3RZ running very poor??
Hey Mate,
My 3RZ was running really rough a few months ago. Backfiring and idling really bad. It happened just after I had serviced it. Some of the guys on here told me to check the air in take senor. The little sensor just up from the air filter. It was covered in dust, cleaned it up and no problems since.
Not sure if this is a similar problem but may help out if it is idling bad.
Tom
